|Welcome to Wuxi - A Great Chinese City|
Ten years ago the Lonely Planet described Wuxi as a “Typical Chinese Urban Wasteland”. Today this urban wasteland has been transformed from a sleepy backwater into one of the economic engines powering China’s rapid growth. A major manufacturing and business center located in Jiangsu province Wuxi is approximately 128 KM (80 Miles) from Shanghai and 183 KM (114 Miles) from Nanjing. Modern highways and an excellent rail system and a new International Airport have made getting to and from Wuxi extremely easy.
Located 47 minutes by train from Shanghai, less than 15 minutes from Suzhou, Wuxi is a modern city with all the facilities and services previously only found in Shanghai or Beijing. If you have never lived in China before, Wuxi is not a hardship posting, and with a little help you will probably make the adjustment to a new city and culture with ease. Starbucks coffee, shopping malls, western restaurants and supermarkets have all found their way to Wuxi. These cater to a growing Expat population but also a wealthy and growing Chinese middle class.
