Main Bus Station

Wuxi’s long distance bus stations provide  connections to just about every major city in Jaingsu province and China. Bus travel is not glamorous, but it is cheap and does offer connections to places off the beaten track.

ADVICE! Schedules change rapidly so phone in advance to confirm that the station does indeed have a bus heading in your direction.

The main Wuxi Bus Station is located next to the train station. A ticket to Shanghai costs approximately 30 RMB and buses leave every hour Monday to Friday. Other stations handle a variety of overnight and sleeper buses to just about everywhere in China.

For a  travel adventure, many illegal bus or van services are offered outside the main train station. If you are desperate to get to Shanghai or Nanjing you might get lucky and catch a private van or car. But don’t count on it.

WARNING! These illegal buses will try to grossly over charge foreigners and have been known to lie.

You could end up being dumped in the middle of nowhere, beaten and robbed. As a last resort you should know that a cab to Shanghai will cost you approximately 800 to 1000 RMB depending on where you want to go and your bargaining skills.
