This holidays, me and my husband, we did a Yangtze cruise and I recommend. We catch a Victoria Cuise, American managed, in Yichang and get in Chongqing. We started in 31st July and end in 4th August. The food was great: Western breakfast and lunch, chinese dinner. Normally we get out of the boat everyday in the morning to see the three gorges dam, Fengdu City, the lesser Three gorges. Everytime organized tours with english speaking guides, entertrainment in the boat, Chinese lessons of Culture, before and after the three gorges dam, Tai Chi.
Very clean boat, private balcony to enjoy the gorges, the rooms are very simple but with everything that you need.
In summary we enjoy a lot and I´m writting because in the beginning I was doubting if it will be good or not and perhaps you will have the same doubts too.
Was not expensive for a five star cruise, so many days... that´s why we are doubting!

--couple questions:

--how far away is the place where you catch the boat from wuxi (chongqing or yichang))?

--if you pay the shore excursion price is that for all the tours or is that price for each of them?

--which class room did you guys have and is it worth an upgrade?

--would the trip be worth it in the cold/winter (ie chinese new year) or it it best w/ warmer temps?

--would also like to see you post more pic....

We catch the boat in Yichang, for that we went to Shanghai and catch a flight to Yichang, about three hours to get in the boat.
In Yichang is better (cheaper!) to catch the Airport Express to Downtown and then a Taxi to the port.
The initial, total price, include all the outside tours, no more costs in the boat. We choose the standard room which was really ok. You find everything you possible need. The other ones have more space, but all the cabins have private balcony.
The boat don´t sail in the Winter (December, January, February...)
I think is up to you to decide which temperature you prefer, I think the landscape will change according to the season.
